Washing:
Cats don't really need you to wash them but the fact that dogs stink gives you a reason to get up out off the couch and do something.
Sound:
It depends on how your dog and cat are trained but most cat's meow when they don't get attention and dogs only really bark when something disturbs them.
Exercise:
It also depends of the type of dog but some dogs like Kelpies need a lot of exercises whereas cats just do their own thing.
